Brainstorming Techniques: Top Proven Methods

BRAINSTORMING TECHNIQUES: TOP PROVEN METHODS
Utilize Brainstorming To Unleash The Power Of Your Mind

Your mind is an endlessly powerful, multi-dimensional multipurpose tool. Regardless of its incredible power, too much conscious focus on attaining a particular goal or on solving a specific, perplexing problem eventually causes a sort of “burnout,” where creative methods and solutions become increasingly elusive as you become increasingly fatigued.

It is at times like these, when the indirect subconscious approach, i.e., solo brainstorming, can provide us with a renewed perspective. While most people talk about brainstorming in groups (“let's toss some ideas around and see what we come up with...”), in this article we'll find ways of brainstorming alone using a combination of techniques and approaches.

At its best, brainstorming is a means of combining the power of the subconscious with the power of the collective consciousness – where your subconscious (without your conscious interference) picks up signals from the ever-growing pool of wisdom on tap in the universe [you may not believe in this notion of collective consciousness, but there is an increasing body of evidence, albeit anecdotal, which makes the case and lends credence to its existence].

At its worst, what we refer to as “brainstorming” simply provides a means of cooling the consious mind down and allowing it to reboot when it is ready [assuming, of course, that your subconscious knows how to signal your conscious mind into renewed wakefulness on demand].

Here are some steps, simply outlined, that you can use to get your mind properly attuned to brainstorming and into the process of brainstorming:

===+ Firstly, relax your conscious mind and let it drift away. You can accomplish this by simple meditation (listening to meditative music) or viewing a hypnotic visual pattern for ten or fifteen minutes. Get your mind ready to brainstorm. If you need some meditative audio and visual, YouTube is an excellent source. I sometimes simply use hypnotic patterns, as they provide some good meditative material. You might try https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iewSUmShL2gfor a ten-minute mind prep for brainstorming. Relax your mind and body and simply focus on the audio and the visual. Get lost in the flow of patterns of vision and sound.

===+ Choose a brainstorming approach from the list below, and put it into play (since life is an experiment and the world is your laboratory, try each of these techniques at least once and find which works best for you – be an adventurer):

Technique 1: Take out a yellow lined pad, and write in five words or less a description of the problem you are trying to solve or the result which you are trying to achieve. Then, under each word, taking one word at a time, write the next word which comes to mind through free association. You'll wind up with several very long columns of words, and a pile of ideas as to how to advance your mental task to the next step. It works.

Technique 2: Take the initial steps outlined in Technique 1, create your sentence, look at it for one minute, then close your eyes (this works best while you're sitting in a comfortable chair), and let your mind form pictures using either the brief sentence, a word from the sentence, or a few letters from a single word or words. Ideas will emerge from your internal narration of each of the pictures. Your creativity will be running wild, and that's precisely what you want.

Technique 3: Take out a dictionary, start with any letter you'd like, and read each word once aloud, and follow it with a single simple thought about how that word directly or remotely relates (it doesn't matter how remote the association is) to the problem that you are trying to solve or the objective that you're trying to achieve. After a brief while, new ideas will pop into your head, framed in a new perspective.

Each of the above techniques is associative, distracting, invites daydreaming and does not permit you to address the probem or goal in a conventional, linear approach. The above three “out of the box” brainstorming approaches will help you to be far more creative than you would otherwise be if you just kept thinking and efforting head-on.

The Nature Of Mind - BRAINTENANCE - Douglas E. Castle

By // No comments:

Thinking about abstractions and examining cause-and-effect relationships are an integral part of intelligence strengthening. The more you utilize your introspective imagination, the greater your ability to conceptualize and to be creative. The mere notion of thinking about the nature of your mind, and of consciousness itself is a wonderful Braintenance exercise.  Give these questions some thought. Some of them require that you think about thinking -- a kind of recursive, "fractal logic":

Have you ever wondered about the nature of your mind? Is the mind separate from the brain or is the thinking, working mind merely a manifestation of the biological brain's self realization?

Do we imagine the existence of our minds?

Does the mind animate the brain? Or does the brain animate (or generate) the mind?

Are the brain and the mind somehow symbionts? Can one exist without the other? If the brain dies, does the mind die automatically?

Can consciousness, as we understand it, exist independent of biology?

Is the phenomenon of mental telepathy real? Is the phenomenon, when it seems to occur, a function of trained superconscious intuition or is it truly shared consciousness? Can we truly broadcast our thoughts and receive the thoughts of others?

Do our thoughts take on substance and live on independently of us? Do such entities as thoughtforms truly exist?

Is there truly a collective consciousness? If so, does it have embedded within it the thoughts of those long deceased? What is its origin (from where or what is it generated)? Does each of us contribute to it? Can any one of us access or "tap into" it? If so, how?

How are the subconscious, the conscious and the super conscious (intuitive) minds interconnected?

Are our minds a projection of someone else's thoughts or consciousness?

Is the mind truly located within the brain? Can the mind migrate and travel outside of the brain? Are astral projection, out-of-body and near-death-experiences genuine, or they more simply explained as a consequence of the chemistry of the brain?

Lastly, how often do you think about thinking?

The above photo bears no relevance to the subject matter of this article. Irrelevance is sometimes an intellectual virtue.

De-Stress, Relax, Defragment: A Braintenance Experiment

By // No comments:
While you look at the above photo with doubt, aren't you just the slightest bit envious?

We defragment our computers. We take our automobiles in for servicing after we've driven them for a while. We have blood drawn and go to doctors for all sorts of tests. Why is it that we each tend to put our own state of psychological and emotional health last on our list of life-maintenance priorities? We need to rest, re-set, re-calibrate and refresh our perspective from time to time... and we actually damage our incredibly complex and delicate inner workings by this 'customary' neglect.

We burn out. We break down. We make bad decisions and say things that we regret. When we fail to maintain our brains, we do damage to ourselves, to those around us, and possibly (to those of you who are excited by theosophy, Rosicrucianism, collectivism, and the Celestine Prophesy sort of thing) even the Collective Consciousness. It would seem that we do a great deal of unintended harm by not tending to our minds. That is something that can, and should be changed. Why not begin today?  Give some thought to your thinking (ahem).

De-Stress, Relax, Defragment - A Braintenance Experiment.

A friend and colleague (they are not necessarily mutually exclusive) who shall remain nameless (as his parents thought so highly of him that they chose not to label him with a name which might limit his possibilities and prospects) sent me a collection of fascinating meditation videos, each of which is worth watching and listening to. We should, each of us, take more time to meditate -- to either clear our thoughts, or to re-focus our thinking on things other than those which tend to preoccupy us, and lead us to a state of frustrated exhaustion or a dreary dead end where fatigue sets in and replaces creativity.

Please click on each of the links below, enjoy the audio and visual experience, click the "BACK" button on your browser, and return to click on another.  Then repeat the process. Do this when you have a good half-hour to a two-hour interval of truly free time. That means no TV, no texting, no whittling, no eating. Just sit back in a comfortable chair and luxuriate in the feeling of having an external medium free you from your habitual effort of conscious or volitional thought.

At very worst, it may prove a seeming waste of a bit of time -- at best, it will change your pattern of thought formation and put you into a better place, with a better perspective. Here's hoping. By the way, I guarantee that mediation does not ever work when you don't actually attempt to do it. Suspend your natural skepticism and propensity toward disbelief (wrought through the experience of past disillusionment) and let it go. I am telling you, personally [Douglas E. Castle to each and every respected reader and esteemed visitor] that IT WILL WORK.

A word of apology -- since these are YouTube videos, they are sometimes subject to either mysterious disappearance or malfunction. If you should happen upon a clunker, simply proceed to the next.

While your in this neighborhood, I would also recommend another form of self-indulgent escape therapy. Take a few minutes several times every day to listen to a bit of music. It is the ultimate rapid mental flossing for the multitasking manic overachievers that most of us have become. Music has power. I may be slightly biased, but I highly recommend listening to some of the selections on RadioDAZZ, at http://RadioDAZZ.blogspot.com. You might become a fan or make that site a favorite.

Here's to all of you, my friends!
